025S’s first exhibition, “FLASH”

FLASH
Photo kiosk · Kaleidoscope installation

N/A GALLERY, 2F–3F, Euljiro, Seoul
2022.06.12 – 07.03

The first exhibition by 025S, a fragrance brand named after the 0.25 seconds it takes to perceive a scent.
We built a photo kiosk to take today home as a photograph, and a kaleidoscope installation that endlessly reflects scenes of scent.

From hazy memories
to a vivid moment

“FLASH” captured memories of moments through fragrance, photographs and letters. Two rooms connected by the third-floor corridor offered different experiences: one let visitors take a portrait home, while the other invited them to look through a small opening into a kaleidoscope of repeating scent-inspired scenes.

The frame chosen on screen becomes a photograph in your hands

We connected the photo-selection interface to a physical printer. The frame and quantity selected on the touchscreen determine the printed result, which visitors collect inside the booth without moving to a separate pickup point.

Through a small opening,
scenes of scent unfold endlessly

The metal cube in the center of the white room has a small viewing hole on each of its four sides. Look inside and the screen’s imagery reflects between triangular mirrors, forming a kaleidoscope with sixfold symmetry. Four mirror tunnels form a cross within the cube. Move from one side to another to discover different scenes of scent.

From choosing the mirrors
to building the cube’s interior

We compared six mirror arrangements in simulation, selected a triangular tunnel, and checked the visible field with a prototype. We then arranged four units in a cross inside the cube and designed the layout of both rooms, including the photo booth.
