RoboCup 2026 Incheon · Songdo Convensia
A football pitch where foot movements determine the ball’s direction and speed.
Two players face each other on the LED floor, kicking and blocking virtual balls.
RoboCup is an international competition for AI and robotics in football, rescue, domestic and industrial applications. In 2026, it took place at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
KB Shooting Star turned the event’s football theme into a game visitors could play themselves. Instead of a separate controller, familiar foot movements let them kick and block. Children and adults experienced the technology physically on the same pitch.

Interaction that reads foot movements
Two-player football for children and adults
The central LED floor becomes a pitch. Starting from opposite sides, the two players move toward the virtual balls and naturally enter the game.

Central play area · One player on each side

Two players face each other and prepare for the match.

Move your feet toward the virtual balls to attack and defend.

The match result leads to character win and loss screens.

We read the foot’s position and movement at contact to calculate the ball’s direction and speed. Players can block the opponent’s ball with their feet, connecting attack and defense through the same physical action.

Sensors continuously track both players’ foot positions.

The direction and speed of the foot become the ball’s movement.

A score update and character celebration appear with each goal.
Natural kicks,
reliable blocks.
A short exception period after each kick prevents the ball from immediately catching on the kicker’s supporting foot. The opponent’s feet remain tracked so defense continues uninterrupted.
Moving boosters, corner portals and goalpost rebounds add to shooting and defending. The ball’s speed and route change within the same pitch.

Your ball speeds up when it touches the bar moving back and forth.
A ball entering the corner moves to another position on its own side.
Balls bounce off the posts; crossing the goal line scores a point.
The score updates with each goal, and the match ends when a player reaches the set winning score.
We animated the supplied RoboCup Star Friends illustrations to respond to goals, wins and losses. The characters’ expressions and movements convey each moment of the match.

Three sensors line each long side of the pitch. We aligned their foot-position readings into one coordinate system and tracked each foot continuously to connect movement to the game.

We adjusted detection areas and kick responses for different foot sizes and movements, with start and reset controls for the operator.
Initial floor tests established the kick response. On site, we aligned sensor coordinates with the display and checked rebounds and scoring with two people playing.
We installed 14 LED bars to illuminate the yellow translucent structures.
